How did I begin?
I still remember the honor of styling hair for my college hockey teammate’s wedding back in 2005. Two decades later, that feeling hasn’t faded. It’s a privilege to be invited into such a sacred space before a marriage ceremony, and I still catch myself thinking, This is really my job? I love it that much.

My love for hair started early—braiding my sister’s hair for piano recitals, styling updos for prom, and eventually earning my cosmetology license at Aveda after college. But more than anything, I’ve always loved serving people. That passion has taken many forms, but weddings have stood the test of time. Now, as a wife and a busy mom of three, I’m grateful to have built a team that shares my heart for brides—allowing us to serve even more women while I continue doing what I love, both behind the chair and behind the scenes.
From 139 Hair by Heidi to Athena Love Bridal Beauty...
When I first started this company, I decided to call it 139 Hair by Heidi based on a verse from the Bible in the 139th chapter of Psalms. The verse says that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made". Hair and makeup is very outward, but the heart of how it makes brides feel is what drives me. I've always wanted brides to know and feel that they a created beautifully by a big God who loves us so much. As the years went by, the businesss has grown as my family has. I needed more support as I became pregnant with my first child and brides were also wanting makeup too! I started to hire and expand my team. By the time I had my third child, I was able to still serve brides to the fullest capacity because of the trusted artists that work with me. Now I do less of the weddings myself, and focus on making the communication and behind the scenes seamless for my brides. I also teach other hairstylists how to do wedding hair! As I look back on the last 10 years of 139 Hair by Heidi, I'm proud and humbled by the business I've built. I know that the next 10 years will look different than the beginning, and I wanted to reflect that in the name change. The same heart and soul are in the company, the same intentional service and quality work, and now an even more expansive team of curated artists to serve more brides. Athena Love Bridal Beauty wil carry on with strength in service, love and care in our work, and a lasting legacy of honoring brides on their wedding day.

A bit more about me...
I married my prince charming in 2014 after being set up on a blind date from dear friends. We have 3 awesome children: Moses, Athena (the namesake!), and Roman. They are the joy of heart. Having this business has been an enormous blessing, as I've been able to stay home with them and do work that I love! What a gift.

When I'm not teaching 3 little people how to be good humans in the world or doing wedding hair, you can find me running around the lakes in Minneapolis, training for a triathlon, or enjoying all of the winter sports Minnesota has to offer.
